How High can you get from CBD!

by Michael Saly 21 Jun 2023

As CBD becomes more mainstream with people around the world using it, the real question most people have is how high can you get from CBD?

The answer: CBD won’t get you high even a little bit

Here is the science behind why CBD does not get you high and why you have nothing to worry about!

CBD (Cannabidiol)

CBD is a chemical known as Cannabidiol which is mainly found in Hemp plants. CBD is one of over 113 Cannabinoids identified in cannabis plants and was first discovered by Dr. Roger Adams and his team at the University of Illinois in 1940.

One of the properties which makes CBD unique is that is is not intoxicating, so when taking it does not produce a euphoric (High) effect. This means if you take CBD you won’t get the munchies. Other than not getting you high CBD is also super safe to use as it is non addictive and nontoxic.

Not only does CBD not get you high but recent studies on CBD have also shown that CBD is capable of blocking THC’s activation of the CB1 receptor in cells. This follows the logic that CBD may be able to block the psychoactive effects of THC. In essence CBD is like the non alcoholic version and is all health no High.

THC ( Tetrahydrocannabinol)

THC on the other hand, is the most famous Cannabinoid which is found mainly in Marijuana plants and was first isolated in 1964 by Raphael Mechoulam and Yechiel Gaoni at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.

THC is the chemical which is responsible for getting high which happens when the CB1 receptor is activated in your brain. The most common way to people will get THC into their system is my smoking Marijuana (Weed) which caused you to get high. Due to THC’s intoxicating effect it is illegal in most of the world to be sold or consumed. To put this in perspective most marijunana taken to get high has THC levels of between 5-12%.

The difference between CBD and THC

As you can see these two chemicals CBD and THC are very different. It is for this reason that CBD products sold in Europe must have less than 0.2% THC (Less than 0.3% THC in the USA). This level of THC in CBD products is so low that it is only a trace element and will never get you high. It is even so low that if you drank a litre of CBD it wouldn’t have an intoxicating effect or get you high.

So if you have been thinking about taking CBD you can now know for sure it wont get you high. Got a question on CBD or Hemp that you would like answered? Why not send us an email at info@hempheros.ie and would be happy to help.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
